Meet Our Team
Ed Skimin – Project Strategist
Ed Skimin co-created Emerge Inc. with his brother, Mike, in October 1996. Ed is responsible for the growth and development of Emerge. Ed works with clients to strategize effective uses of the Internet for their business and manages projects through completion.
Previously, Ed worked for the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, Cleveland State University, Ohio House of Representatives and the City of Lorain.
Ed has a Masters Degree in Urban Studies from The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Dayton.
Michael Skimin – Chief Programmer
Mike Skimin co-created Emerge Inc. with his brother, Ed, in October 1996. Mike is responsible for Emerge’s technology needs. His duties include server administration, database administration, custom programming and office hardware. Mike has experience in cloud based as well as traditional hosting environments. His skill set includes MySQL, Apache, Perl and PHP. While with Emerge Mike was on the Board of the Goodwill Industries of Lorain County.
Before creating Emerge Inc., Mike was an Assistant Manager for the Cleveland Indians Team Shops. Other previous experience includes positions with Lorain National Bank, Gund Arena, Lorain Family YMCA and Lorain Palace Civic Center.
Mike has a Bachelors Degree of Business Administrative Management from Bowling Green State University.
Nyree Skimin – Custom Projects Team Leader
Nyree is the Custom Projects Team Leader and oversees the Client Partnership Center. She works with clients to ensure they are maximizing their Internet potential on a variety of custom applications and web development projects. Nyree specializes in working with clients both during the development phase and during implementation.
Prior to joining the Emerge team in October 2000, Nyree worked at Spitzer Management, Inc., Real Estate Division, the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, RHP Bearings and Holiday Inn.
Nyree has a Bachelors Degree of Business Administration from Kent State University, Associates Degree of Arts from Lorain County Community College and an Associates Degree of Science from Bowling Green State University, Firelands College.
Sam Green – Senior Web Application Developer
Samuel Green is a web application developer for Emerge Inc. Sam is responsible for creating and maintaining web applications. Whether it is a small module, a registration system, or a custom application, he is involved in the planning, design, and developmental phases of each project.
Sam has a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Web Application Engineering and a minor in mathematics from Baldwin-Wallace College.
Silas Baranda – Web Application Developer
Silas is the newest addition to Emerge and focuses on Ruby, Linux, and Open Source projects.
Silas is a recent graduate from The Ohio State University with a Degree in Computer Science & Engineering. Silas is an active member of the open source community, including filing bug reports and patches.
While not hacking on software, Silas can be found volunteering his technical skills with FreeGeek Columbus, learning more about Vim at VimCbus, or being apart of the OSU Open Source Club.
Nick Mezlak – Client Service Specialist
Nick Mezlak is a Client Service Specialist who works directly with clients on strategizing the best ways to optimize their web presence and managing their day-to-day needs. Nick has been with Emerge Inc. for nearly five years, the last three working directly with clients.
Nick is also on the Steering Committee of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association of Northeast Ohio, and serves on the Governance Committee of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Young Professionals Committee.
Nick has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Kent State University, three Associates Degrees (Associate of Arts, Associate of Applied Business – Marketing, and an Associate of Applied Business – Management) from Lorain County Community College, and is currently working on completing his MBA in Finance through Cleveland State University.
